ocene-Oligocene ostracoda from south Australia and Victoria, Australia.

Australian Eocene-Oligocene Ostracoda have been little reported hitherto, this paper representing the first substantial taxonomic study. The 80 species which we identified came from Late Eocene Gull Rock Member of Blanche Point Formation in Willunga Embayment, South Australia (16 species) and lower fossiliferous bed Oligocene Angahook at Bells Headland, Victoria (70 species); only 6 are common to both formations. We describe 4 new genera, 38 2 subspecies. In most commonly occurring families Cytherellidae, Bythocyprididae, Pontocypridi­dae, Paracyprididae, Krithiidae Trachyleberididae; Headland (Late Oligocene) represented Bairdiidae, Cytheruridae, Thaerocytheridae, Trachylebe­rididae Hemicytheridae. Both assemblages interpreted as indicating offshore facies, was deposited deeper water than facies which, however, indicates (large count Hemicyt­heridae) cooler seawater palaeotemperatures during Eocene. Some Early-Middle Miocene records, Gellibrand Marl Fishing (Victoria), also incorporated for biostratigraphical palaeobiographical reasons.
